Moving Your Flow Device
Different steps apply depending on what you plan to do with your Flow device.
1. Keeping your device but installing it on a different water meter
Scenario A: Moving the device to another meter in the same home
You can reinstall the device on a different meter within the same home.
Steps:
- Leave the home as‑is in the Flow app (do not remove the device).
- Update the Wi‑Fi setup if needed.
- Recalibrate the device for the new meter.
No factory reset is required.
Scenario B: Moving the device to a second home (example: cottage)
A home in the Flow app must always contain at least one device.
Because of this, the device cannot be removed without deleting that home.
Steps:
- Do not delete the device from its current home.
(Deleting it would also delete the home.) - Update the home’s address and information to match the new location.
- Reset the water history (feature available in the app).
- Set up the new Wi‑Fi network.
- Recalibrate the device for the new meter.
2. Giving your device away (full ownership transfer)
Scenario C: Transferring ownership to another person
If this is your only device, follow this procedure:
- In the Flow app, delete your home.
- After the home is deleted:
- The device will automatically perform a factory reset
- Only if it is online at that moment
- The new owner can now:
- Create a new home
- Configure Wi‑Fi
- Perform calibration
If you have multiple devices, you may delete the device from its home without removing the home itself.
If the home was deleted while the device was offline, the automatic reset will not occur.
You can perform a manual factory reset:
- Disconnect power, then reconnect it while holding the reset button
- Keep holding until the LED stops blinking red (about 15 seconds)
- The device will start in factory‑reset mode and can be paired again
