DocsPost-InstallationFlow Shutoff Valve Manual Override Procedure

Manual Valve Operation

If the shutoff valve cannot operate electronically due to a power outage or system failure, follow these steps to manually open or close the valve.

Safety Check

Caution: Disconnect the power to your Flow device before proceeding to prevent unexpected motor activation.

Manual Override Steps

  • Engage Manual Mode (Pull Up): Gently pull the knob upwards about 3mm (it only lifts slightly). This engages the manual override gears, allowing you to turn the valve by hand.
  • Adjust the Valve: Rotate the knob to the left or right to change the valve position.
    • “O” on the red needle indicator means Open.
    • “S” on the red needle indicator means Shut/Closed.
    • It typically requires about 7 full turns to move from fully open to fully closed.
    • Stop if you feel high resistance to avoid stripping the gears.
  • Re-engage Auto Mode (Push Down): Once manual adjustment is finished, you must press the knob back down into its original position. This disengages the manual hand-wheel gears and readies the valve for electronic control.
  • Reconnect the power to your Flow device.

If the valve does not operate as expected after restoring power, please contact SenseQ Support for further troubleshooting or to arrange a replacement device.

Warning: Gear Protection

Operating the valve electronically while the knob is in the “UP” position can cause premature wear or damage to the actuator gears due to the extra friction and weight of the manual mechanism. Always ensure the knob is pressed down before restoring power to your Flow device.
